Take A Journey
Wislawa Szymborska was a Polish poet who was born on July 2, 1923. She lived in a Poland torn apart by war and Communism, and died there on February 1, 2012. Take a journey into the life and poetry of Szymborska with me. We shall explore her poetry, her life, and how visual and performing arts has a connection to her, starting with the Mozart concerto below. You don't have to listen to the whole thing, but at least listen to part of it before reading on.
CONNECTION BETWEEN MOZART AND SZYMBORSKA
Szymborska was often described as the "Mozart of Poetry." This concerto is arguably one of Mozart's best. Some of the poetry you shall see later on is arguably some of the best, too. Szymborska and Mozart both started writing/ composing at a young age. And just like Mozart, Szymborska wasn't just a writer/ composer, but she was also an essayist and translator.
